"Human" by Siez Coleman
What makes us human?
Is it our ability to feel complex emotions
we search for deeper meaning in everything,
to the point that we over think
Which is not a bad thing.
Overthinking is what makes as great,
We create a future that is likely or unlikely
We create these possibilities in our head
To the point where we start believing that the possibility is certain
This is our truest insanity as humans
What connects us as a human culture?
Art and history.
We connect through things we find beautiful,
Beauty the thing our brain signals to us
Is it our humanity that this created or
the chemicals of a wild beast
We who were created through the same DNA as apes
Do they see beauty as we do?
We teach beauty through knowledge of our past
History is what we learn from and gives us pride.
What defines or conveys humanity?
What does it look like?
what I feel that conveys humanity is our violence.
We are the barbaric damnation of our predecessors.
They taught us violence
we see violence
so we must become violent
To tear apart the streets and ravage our land
Just like animals
we puff out our chest when challenged
And don't back down until death
Is this what makes us human?
Our wars or just violent acts
inspire our art it inspires us to create more
To see and create more off this beautiful piece
Love also conveys humanity,
Love is humanity's strongest and weakest connection to the world
We create wars and means of destruction for love
Love allows for beauty and admiration
love is our biggest motivation
if we’re not writing about killing each other
than we’re writing about the person we love
We as humans fail to comprehend that we have two basic emotions’
Love and destruction
They the polar opposites yet they need one another
They can not survive without the other .
We begin to create a cycle in our world
Some believing we are changing
But it is not, it is the same cycle just showcased differently
Are the definitions we use to understand humanity changing?
we’re just discovering who are.
We’re not seeing a change in humanity we’re just seeing more opinions.
