"I'm So Very Sorry" by Sharma Menard

I saw the last bag of Hot Cheetos

that were in the cabinet.

The beautiful orange bag, teasing my eyes.

I slowly but surely opened the bag to reveal

the glorious sight of my favorite snack.

The taste of the spices caressing my tongue.

I grabbed another one from the bag, the powder sticking to my hand,

and without hesitation, crunched on it right away.

I’m sorry for eating them.

I’m sorry for the taste still lingering on my lips.

I’m sorry that I ate them and not you.

I’m so very sorry.
